DR. ANTHONY CHAFFEE: black beans block out up to 75% of zinc absorption, and that corn tortillas can block out 100% of zinc absorption.

toxic levels of vitamin A can reduce your thyroid function as well, so this is a potential issue if someone is eating liver in high enough quantities.  --Dr. Anthony Chaffee

There's a study showing that black beans block out up to 75% of zinc absorption, and that corn tortillas can block out 100% of zinc absorption. So zinc is required for the conversion of T4 into T3, and people are saying, "Oh my, God, T3 is going down."  Okay, well what about your zinc.  People know about selenium but they never they never think about zinc.

Thyroid issues with Carnivore?
.
I regularly see influential Carnivore advocates (former, maybe?) stating that a pure carnivore diet without fructose from honey or fruit will cause hypothyroidism. To combat this they recommend eating fruit or honey, and one advises people to get 40% of their calories from things like orange juice and to "sun their genitals" to help their thyroid...
.
I've been strict carnivore for 10 of the last 20 years, and close to otherwise, and my thyroid function is perfectly normal, if not optimal. And I have yet to have a patient go on carnivore and not improve their thyroid function, let alone damage it. Although I don't generally eat organs, and I don't tell my patients to either, just if they want to, these same advocates of not-quite Carnivore strongly recommend them, especially liver. I don't know if that affects this, but toxic levels of vitamin A can reduce your thyroid function as well, so this is a potential issue if someone is eating liver in high enough quantities. And I definitely don't sun my balls, so that's not what's holding me together. The other thing to point out is that the Inuits and native Australians and others who traditionally don't eat anything except a carnivorous diet, and certainly don't have access to fructose up in the North Pole, don't have issues with their thyroid. If they did they would die out because congenital hypothyroidism, called cretinism, and is a serious congenital developmental disorder. And if this were the case, we never would have made it through any of the past ice ages over the course of the past 2.5 million years. Having studied biochemistry, and speaking to other biochemists on this subject, I'm not aware of any biochemical process in the body that cannot function without fructose. As far as I know, there aren't any that can only be driven by fructose. And seeing as there is more and more biochemical evidence and studies showing causation between fructose and metabolic syndrome, among other issues, for me it's best to be avoided.

BEN AZADI: When your blood sugar is constantly high, it acts like sandpaper tearing through those delicate filters. Over time, they scar over, they shut down, and as long as the root cause driving your blood sugar is still there

The decline in your kidney function is not a mystery. Your kidneys are made of millions of microscopic filters, called nephrons.  When your blood sugar is constantly high, it acts like sandpaper tearing through those delicate filters.  Over time, they scar over, they shut down, and as long as the root cause driving your blood sugar is still there, the filters will continue to scar.  Drinking more water will not stop the scarring.  Taking more medication that doesn't fix the root cause won't stop the scarring.  To protect what function you have left, you have to stop the damage at the source.

PAUL WESTON: The world outside the West is a brutal place. We have now allowed brutality into the West which cannot be resisted by words written on government paper.

99% men of all civilisations over the last five thousand years have had to physically fight in defence of their civilisation. This is why the history of man is war. My generation and the two that followed have not had to fight. Combined, we represent an unprecedented historical aberration which runs counter to historical reality. The world outside the West is a brutal place. We have now allowed brutality into the West which cannot be resisted by words written on government paper. The people responsible for for bringing brutality into the West did so for revolutionary reasons. They currently hold complete power over us. If we are to survive they must be overthrown and subjected to Nuremberg style trials for crimes against humanity. If they are not overthrown the West will perish by the time a baby born today reaches adulthood.

If politics cannot guarantee our survival, politics will be replaced by war.

CARNIVORE TEACHER ALPHA: Dairy contains proteins, like casein, which can be inflammatory or harder to tolerate for some people. Casomorphin. Sounds like morphine, doesn't it? Well, it stimulates addiction.

Sans dairy, skin looked clearer [what? blemish-free?] and feels better.

Improved body composition.  He leaned out even more, dropping a little more body fat, and muscles looked sharper, more defined, more ripped, more toned.  Same workouts.  Same over-all way of eating.  The only variable changed was removing dairy.  Got so excited he posted a picture on his YouTube page.  Saw definition he'd never really had before and that got his attention.  Showed him that even dairy is carnivore, it can still slow things down for some people; it can gum-up the works.

WHY DOES DAIRY CAUSE THAT?

A few possible reasons.  One, dairy contains lactose, a sugar.  It can stimulate insulin in some individuals more than they realize.  It also contains proteins, like casein, which can be inflammatory or harder to tolerate for some people.  Casomorphin.  Sounds like morphine, doesn't it?  Well, it stimulates addiction.  There's a reality.  Dairy is very easy to over consume.  It's hyperpalatable.  It's easy calories.  And it can quietly stall fat-loss without you even noticing.  So he removed it, and everything tightened up.

IMPORTANT PART

I'm not saying that dairy is bad.  I'm not saying this.  For me, removing it leveled me up.  That's it.  And now I have a choice.  I can have dairy if I want, but I choose not to most of the time because I'm experiencing a big difference, a positive difference.  And once you feel that difference, you don't want to unfeel it.  So if you're on carnivore, and you're feeling a little stuck, or your skin isn't where you want it to be, or your body composition isn't dialed in, try it.  Take dairy out for a week or two.  Not about rules, it's about results.  Eat the proper human diet and fine tune it to you, that's when you become the optimized version of yourself.

IF NOT FROM DAIRY, WHAT'S A GOOD SOURCE FOR CALCIUM

I want to get calcium. I'm getting it in my carnivore diet.  I used to think I was getting it from all of my dairy, which I was, but I don't need that much calcium personally.  If you need calcium, a little more, dairy may be good for you. I'm getting mine from my sardines because I get the bones in and the skin on, and there's my calcium right there in the tiny bones.
