The African Congo is primarily made up of two countries: the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Republic of the Congo. The American author Adam Hochschild in the 1990s rewrote 20,000 deaths in Congo caused by fights with the Belgian police into a genocide of 20 million. Of course no African author before 1990 ever said so.
