PAUL SALADINO, MD.: Another problem with nicotine is it also increases cortisol, a stress hormone in your body

I got some ZYN. Nicotine is all the rage today. Is it healthy?  Nope.

That's up to 90 mg of nicotine per day. You absorb 45 to 75% of what's in here, which means 50 mg of nicotine per day. That's more than 30 cigarettes worth of nicotine per day.  --Paul Saladino, MD

I got some ZYN. Nicotine is all the rage today.  Is it healthy?  Nope.

Don't fall prey to these, guys. Nicotine is incredibly addictive.  They have a huge amount of nicotine in them, 6 mg per packet.  Pretty soon you're going to be using almost this whole pack per day.  That's up to 90 mg of nicotine per day. You absorb 45 to 75% of what's in here, which means 50 mg of nicotine per day. That's more than 30 cigarettes worth of nicotine per day.  That's going to be pretty hard to withdraw from, and you're going to be stuck on these for a long time.

Another problem with nicotine is it also increases cortisol, a stress hormone in your body.  You're using this because it gives you energy or it helps you with focus.  If you really want those things, try creatine.  Creatine is the best nootropic.  This is the worst example of a nootropic.  And imagine this, how about going to sleep on time.  Get enough sleep.  Eat meat.  Get creatine, and get rid of these, guys.  Get rid of this.

PAUL SALADINO, MD: A lot of you say, "I don't want to eat liver. It's the body's natural filter," but this isn't true at all.

This is bison liver.

A lot of you guys say, "No, I don't want to eat liver.  It's the body's natural filter," but this isn't true at all.  Through Phase 1 and Phase 2 detoxification, the liver bio-transforms toxins and excretes them from your body in the poop in the pee. Liver has been prized for a thousands and thousands of years by our ancestors.  When I was in Tanzania with the Hadza, they treated liver like gold; it was shared among the tribe.  Everyone in the tribe got a little piece of precious liver.  Liver is a superfood.  The amount of nutrients per gram in liver is basically unrivaled in other foods.  I mean you're talking vitamin A, choline, biotin, folate, riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, manganese, selenium, the list goes on and on and on.  Even a little bit of liver, half an ounce per day, a few grams per day, is going to be like a little multivitamin for you.  So do not sleep on liver.  Liver is so valuable for you.  If you can't do fresh liver, if you won't do this, get a desiccated liver like we make at Heart and Soil.  Get liver in your life.  It's just so full of nutrients that it will definitely increase your health overall.  You've got to send this reel to somebody you know who fears liver, that doesn't have this in their life. This is an upgrade for sure.  This is Nature's multivitamin unquestionably.

PAUL SALADINO: Caffeine is sort of borrowing tomorrow's happiness today

Yeah, that morning cup of coffee . . . for biological functions is not good.

"Darkness my old friend."  Ah, not really your friend.

But who will listen?  When it comes to coffee, I can't even listen to my own advice.

from the interview above,

Caffeine is sort of borrowing tomorrow's happiness today.  You're saying I'm tired and I'm going to use this chemical crutch to feel less tired.  And you know that later in the day when the caffeine wears off and your adenosine receptors are flooded with adenosines, you're going to feel more tired because it's a methyl-xanthine.  Caffeine also causes loss of electrolytes in your body, so minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

Like all plant-based foods, they can and do have medicinal properties.  But plant-based foods should not be your daily bread.  You need meat, fat, and salt.  But here are a few benefits of methylxanthines.  Drugs.com explains,

The methylxanthines, theophylline, and dyphylline are used in the treatment of airways obstruction caused by conditions such as asthmachronic bronchitis, or emphysema. Caffeine (present in coffee) and theobromine (present in chocolate) are also methylxanthines.

The interview transcript continues,

So caffeine does have negative, sort of diuretic effects.

Do you drink coffee?

I do not drink coffee.

When was the last time you had coffee?

19 years ago.  Yeah, when I was in physician assistant school before medical school.

PAUL SALDINO: plant defense chemicals cause problems for some people. Oxalates in spinach certainly contribute to kidney stones

Kale is b*******.  Let me explain it to you.  These are plant leaves. They're vegetables.  Vegetables are the leaves, the stems, the roots, and the seeds of plants.  These parts of plants contain defense chemicals.  This is not opinion; this is scientific fact.  But here's the deal: these plant defense chemicals cause problems for some people.  Oxalates in spinach certainly contribute to kidney stones in a lot of people with calcium oxalate kidney stones.  Chard also has a ton of oxalates.  If you're not getting enough iodine in your diet, the isothiocyanates, which are iodine-blocking at the level of the thyroid in this kale, could potentially lead to thyroid problems.  In my case, cutting out vegetables was a key component of figuring out what was triggering my eczema.  So, if you're thriving, don't change anything about your diet.  But if you're not, it's time to question your nutritional assumptions.  Vegetables are much better than junk food, but they're not benign for everyone.
