Yeah, that morning cup of coffee . . . for biological functions is not good.
"Darkness my old friend." Ah, not really your friend.
But who will listen? When it comes to coffee, I can't even listen to my own advice.
from the interview above,
Caffeine is sort of borrowing tomorrow's happiness today. You're saying I'm tired and I'm going to use this chemical crutch to feel less tired. And you know that later in the day when the caffeine wears off and your adenosine receptors are flooded with adenosines, you're going to feel more tired because it's a methyl-xanthine. Caffeine also causes loss of electrolytes in your body, so minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
Like all plant-based foods, they can and do have medicinal properties. But plant-based foods should not be your daily bread. You need meat, fat, and salt. But here are a few benefits of methylxanthines. Drugs.com explains,
The methylxanthines, theophylline, and dyphylline are used in the treatment of airways obstruction caused by conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema. Caffeine (present in coffee) and theobromine (present in chocolate) are also methylxanthines.
The interview transcript continues,
So caffeine does have negative, sort of diuretic effects.
Do you drink coffee?
I do not drink coffee.
When was the last time you had coffee?
19 years ago. Yeah, when I was in physician assistant school before medical school.
