Chris Krebs worked under Michael Chertoff when he was the head of DHS from 2005 to 2009. Krebs was essentially 3rd in line there; I believe he worked for the chief of staff who was the former CIA. Krebs now runs the Council for Responsible Social Media, which he co-founded with two CIA directors. The whole Department of Dirty Tricks used to essentially advance American interest on the foreign side. It populates the Chris Krebs Microsoft network, which created other election interference organs such as News Guard, the news censorship. It should be called "Narrative Guard." Their job is to guard narratives. They created a blacklist of conservative websites and Covid critics. 631 websites are currently on its Covid advertiser blacklist. They also created Election Guard, which essentially seized jurisdiction over election software. I don't weigh into that issue except on the censorship issue, but Microsoft, the fact that they are so deeply affiliated with ChatGPT and we know they programmed their AI to advance censorship interests, is extremely troubling and dangerous.
On the news that Microsoft's ChatGPT can no longer scrape Twitter data, here's a (very) brief primer on Microsoft's (& thus OpenAI's) roles in the censorship industry:
