In 2020, I was sentenced to two weeks hotel imprisonment. My crime: entering Queensland.

On day 3 of my sentence, the fire alarm went off in the hotel.

We were all told to evacuate immediately.

I went to the fire stairs to, you know, not burn to death.

In 2020, I was sentenced to two weeks of hotel imprisonment. My crime: entering Queensland. On day 3 of my sentence, the fire alarm went off in the hotel. We were all told to evacuate immediately. I went to the fire stairs to, you know, not burn to death. In the stairwell, I was met by soldiers in army fatigues. They were pointing their guns in my direction, telling me to go back to my cell. They were happy for us to burn if it meant containing the common cold. Behind the veneer of “equity” and “safety”, our government is inherently tyrannical. And I haven’t forgotten that.
