Because democracy refers to Marxist states or counter-states. The United States is a Republic.
The distinction between a Democracy and a Republic goes all the way back to Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Politics.
So, why do Republicans, who have been apprised of this, support Democrats in calling America a democracy?
The "D" in Republican stands for "controlled opposition."
