Your body produces its own antioxidants: - Glutathione (master antioxidant) - Superoxide dismutase (SOD) - Catalase - Glutathione peroxidase These are thousands of times more powerful than dietary antioxidants from vegetables. Eating berries for antioxidants is like pissing in the ocean to raise sea levels. Your endogenous antioxidant system is so sophisticated that dietary antioxidants barely register. What does improve your body's antioxidant production? - Adequate protein (provides amino acids for glutathione) - B vitamins (required for antioxidant enzyme function) - Minerals like selenium, zinc, copper (cofactors) - Stable fats that don't oxidize (saturated fat, not seed oils) All from animal products.
