Two Latinos were shot in Portland a day after Eileen Good in Minneapolis by Border Police and ICE agents.  They were injured, but the injuries were not fatal.  No one died.  The Latinos were shot at because they were using their vehicle as a weapon and accelerated at the border patrol police.  And it was learned afterwards that the two Latinos are members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua.  So there's that.  I'm sure it's nothing.  

In an odd twist of almost everything, Portland Chief of Police, Bob Day, used his presser to cry crocodile tears in defense of the Latino comunidad and over how members of his community, meaning police in every city in America, have historically not listened to Latino voices.  Weep, weep, sniff, sniff.

Portland Police @ChiefBobDay cries at a press conference after having to affirm that @DHSgov was correct in stating that the illegal Venezuelan migrants accused of trying to run down Border Patrol have ties to Tren de Aragua. Chief Day admitted that he hesitated to share the truth with the public.

On Jan. 8, Border Patrol non-fatally shot a man and a woman in east Portland after they allegedly tried to run down agents in a red pickup truck following a targeted stop. Internal communications about the incident, which was inaccurately blamed on ICE, were leaked to PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.

The entire city and state leadership, all run by Democrats, organized an emergency press conference to condemn the federal agents, reject DHS' statement and to express support with the violent suspects, who they called the "victims." Local and national media also misled the public about the shooting. A mob showed up to try to attack the ICE facility, leading to six arrests.

Two people who the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says have ties to a Venezuelan gang were shot by Border Patrol agents on Jan. 8 during a vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon.

The gang, Tren de Aragua, was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the U.S. Department of State in 2025.

“Tren de Aragua is a terrorist cartel that exploits our borders to bring murder, drugs, and chaos into American communities,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in December following the announcement of a nationwide crackdown on the gang.

Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras − the two individuals in Portland who DHS said had possible connections to a the gang − were shot after the driver attempted to "weaponize" his car and run agents over, the agency said in an X post on Jan. 8.

The gang originated in a Venezuelan prison and has since developed into a “transnational criminal organization” led by Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as "Niño Guerrero," according to the U.S. Department of State and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The State Department said Guerrero Flores used his time in prison to expand the gang’s influence. As a result, Tren de Aragua has managed to gain control of gold mines in Venezuela and drug corridors on the Caribbean coast, a notice released by the department states.

Federal authorities have claimed that the gang also operates in Chile, Peru and the U.S. In December, Guerrero Flores was charged in a Manhattan federal court with racketeering, terrorism, drug importation and firearms offenses.

“As alleged, Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores has been the mastermind of Tren de Aragua’s evolution from a Venezuelan prison gang into a transnational terrorist organization that committed countless acts of violence, extortion, and drug trafficking all over North America, South America, and Europe,” U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton said in a statement.

This time it's an editorial writer for USA Today.

Headline: "I am done with masks. We've been idiotic about them since the beginning."

He begins with this: "Who knew that little pieces of plastic or cloth worn over the nose and mouth could turn people into complete idiots?"

In response to Dr. Leana Wen's [the Chinese-American, flip-flopping, goalpost-shifting version of Anthony Fauci] recent observation that cloth masks are nothing more than "facial decoration," he responds, "Well, I feel like an idiot for all the times I donned a facial decoration and forced my kids to do the same."

He dismisses the drive for N95 masks as unreasonable and concludes: "As for me, I've had it with masks. I feel like a fool, and I am not going to play anymore."

Then, too, Bari Weiss, formerly of the New York Times opinion section, made waves on Bill Maher's program recently when she declared herself "done with COVID," and swatted down the standard arguments with data.

The only thing missing was: I'm sorry for going along with it all this time and demonizing people who said then what I'm saying now.

The whole "we now have new information" thing from Weiss and others is disingenuous. We knew very early on that the crazies were wrong and that nothing they recommended did any good. A simple "stay home when you're sick" would have been better than their entire mitigation program.

Having said that, I by no means decline Bari Weiss's membership in Team Reality, and I'm happy to see our ranks continue to grow.

Before I reveal the happiest of the three items I have to report to you today, in terms of the evolution of opinion, I want to make sure you know a term.

Surely you know "red pill" and "blue pill," from The Matrix. You and I are red-pilled. We understand the nature of the regime that rules over us. We don't accept the establishment version of events.

The blue-pilled are those who even now still think the public health establishment just has the best interests of Americans at heart and should be trusted to do sensible things.

A white pill, meanwhile, is a source of optimism for us.

And now for a white pill:

A recent NBC News poll--so not exactly biased in our favor--finds more Americans distrust Fauci than trust him.

Meanwhile, Ireland just announced it's dropping most COVID restrictions, and England (not the UK as I mistakenly said the other day) is dropping its mask mandate and vaccine passport system.

Austria keeps putting off its mandatory vaccination program, and there are murmurs in England about pushing the vaccine mandates for NHS workers back six months.

We're almost there.

With next to no high-profile support, and with every major opinion-molding institution against us, we've begun to turn the tide.
