While about half of the total body zinc is in the bones, the skin contains nearly 6% of total body zinc.

Zinc is a moisturizer.  By the way, men need more zinc than women do . . . for reasons that we're men, ahem.

Bill Sardi does an excellent job of mapping out the best strategy for supplementing with zinc.

Mineral supplement users are often advised to maintain a zinc/copper balance (10 to 1?) so as not to raise circulating cholesterol levels.  Yet up to 45 milligrams of zinc has been used without accompanying copper without adverse effects.

Interesting.

There are many confounding factors (zinc depleting drugs, high fructose corn syrup, copper piping and alcohol, calcium and iron pills that block zinc absorption) that are often not accounted for in controlled studies and obscure the realization that zinc therapy is an obvious way to save lives.

Zinc really is too important for you to go deficient in.  Look what it does for the heart following a heart attack.

MELATONIN'S UNEXPECTED BENEFITS: slows aging, Prevents . . . Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, protects against ionizing radiation, macular degeneration, treats cancer . . .

This was interesting.

It's a review by Dr. Gary Gonzalez of Dr. Russel [one L] Breiter's book on melatonin.  Most of us, including myself, think of melatonin as a sleep aid or more recently as a valuable antioxidant.  Reiter explains just how valuable it is for longevity and radical health.

The first longevity product that I'd ever heard or read about was Resveratrol and IP6.  IP6 was a longevity compound because it managed the EXCESS iron floating around in our blood, out of the tissue, as what is called "Unbound iron."  The excess iron produces an inflammatory protein that, if left untreated, leads to chronic diseases like arthritis,

FEMALE LONGEVITY

The end result is even more compelling. For example, Reiter explains that five separate studies have shown that older women produce more melatonin than older men-suggesting a possible explanation for the long-observed female longevity factor." He details findings showing a marked correlation between brain functioning in older age and melatonin levels.

Shielding DNA From Free Radicals

Reiter explains melatonin's effects on the immune system of aging animals and determines whether or not these actions also apply to humans. Most importantly, he shows how melatonin fits in with the free radical theory of aging.

He explains that melatonin is found in the greatest abundance in the nucleus of the cell, where it shields the DNA molecule itself from free radical damage better than any other known substance. Reiter describes his own studies in which melatonin has protected DNA from free radicals generated by radiation, carcinogens, bacterial toxins, and most important the process of using oxygen for fuel.

UNEXPECTED BENEFITS

Even if you have no sleeping issues, anyone over 40 should be taking melatonin.  19 Research papers reveal that melatonin promotes all of these unexpected effects [in no particular order, though numbered:

1.  Protects against viral and bacterial infections.

2.  Prevents cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.

3.  Reduces oxidant stress and inflammation and slows aging.

4.  Prevents neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

5.  Improves menopause therapy.

6.  Protects against ionizing radiation.

7.  Prevents macular degeneration.

8.  Prevents and treats cancer.

Okay, so with all of these benefits, the only thing to consider is how much does, or should, one take?  First, I would say do a trial run.  By that I mean start with smaller amounts, say, 3mgs, and see how you feel upon waking, whether or not you can tolerate melatonin to begin with, or tolerate that amount.  When I first tried melatonin, I woke up and could barely raise my arms, and my legs felt like bricks.  But when I was working a physically demanding job for a few years, I noticed that the only way to turn the pain off was excess melatonin, and excess was 5 to 10mgs back in 2018.  Since then, I've been taking upwards of 12 to 20mgs, but not every night.  For, at least in my case, melatonin doesn't deliver a deep sleep for me.  But I still take it for the other unexpected benefits listed above.

So how much should you take?  The answer is contingent on several factors.  One, if you've got a serious disease, like cancer, then you want to take more.  Bill Sardi recommends 15-30mgs nightly for cancer treatment in conjunction with several other compounds.

MELATONIN: NOT JUST A SLEEP AID BUT ". . . THE MOST POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANT TOOL IN THE WORLD"?

I love her claim that melatonin is a more powerful antioxidant than glutathione, which is considered the master antioxidant.  Imagine the healing that could take place if you took both glutathione AND melatonin.  Be sure to open up that thread by clicking on Natural Immunity's Twitter link.  Melatonin benefits go beyond anticancer.  It keeps our skin healthy and youthful [through] two major mechanisms. It has antioxidant effects that neutralize oxidative damage from the sun, and by stimulating growth receptors in the skin.  NaturalImmunity goes on to say that

Melatonin may have a profound effect on stroke & heart attack! 🙌 Take w/in 1st 2 hrs. Based on studies, if were me, I'd take ~2000mg, since oral bioavail is low (& that amt has been shown 2b safe). Then 100mg+ every hour or so for 24/48 hrs. (Not medical advice)!

Christopher Wark of Chris Beat Cancer interviews Dr. Russell J. Reiter.  A powerful interview here on how necessary darkness is for our circadian rhythms and our health.  Modern life with night lighting is fairly new in our evolution, disruptive of natural processes, and disease generating.  So embrace the darkness.  Be sure to check out the show notes in the link, "Chris Beats Cancer" above.  Here is a sampling from those notes:

Melatonin acts as an antiviral [37:24]
-How sunlight helps with the production of melatonin [44:35]
-Melatonin can reduce the likelihood of metastasis [50:45]

Clearly, the antioxidant action of melatonin is quite powerful as an anti-cancer compound. Bill Sardi included it in his nutritional compound regimen for cancer, in fact, 15-30mg of melatonin per night.  So there is credible consensus on the anti-cancer benefits of melatonin.

I have to say that any time I hear or read about the anti-aging benefits of melatonin, or any product, my ears perk up.  Antiaging means that you only slow down the aging process.  In some cases, it may be possible to reverse aging processes, like alopecia, or hair loss, this can be reversed with Rutin, Pumpkin Seed Oils, and B5.  This video, which I didn't have the time to watch all the way through, highlights that 1) Melatonin is an ancient molecule.  That's interesting, but what is the relevance of that?  What benefits are derived from its ancient characteristics?  2) It's found in bacteria and every organism between bacteria and mammalians.  Its structure has never changed throughout its evolution, what that means is that the structure of melatonin in bacteria is identical to the structure of melatonin in humans.  Whoa.  Now that is something, but what does that tell us?  That melatonin means life itself?  3) it is not toxic at any dose. 4) it exists in every species that is currently living or that has ever existed.  I mean what is not to like?  For optimal cellular physiology.  Melatonin exhibits in the blood circadian rhythm.  [7:38] "Melatonin is a very strong anti-cancer agent."  It influences the immune system, metabolism, gastro-intestinal function.

Benfotiamine Helps with Nerves, Eyes, Kidney, & Heart Tissue, and Can Penetrate 3-5x Deeper into the Tissues

too many refined carbohydrates, like pastas and refined flour deplete B1, also taking alcohol, dextrose [which is in a lot of products], chemotherapy, HIV, kidney disease, refined carbohydrates, fructose [as in high fructose corn syrup], Dr. Berg

Bill Sardi explained years ago that Benfotiamine is the anti-Alzheimer's nutritional compound. And as good as Benfotiamine is it requires sufficient magnesium in your blood to do its job.  Ann Louise Gittelman reminds us that Benfotiamine works, in part,

by helping to dissolve amyloid-beta build up in the brain.

So if you're concerned about amyloid-beta build-up in the brain that can lead to all sorts of age-related cognitive disabilities, like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Mad-Cow Disease, or any other caused by amyloid plaque, you should be taking Benfotiamine on a regular basis. Bill Sardi says that it is THE nutritional compound to prevent macular degeneration.  So there's that.

Interesting is his point that the human body is designed to rely on thiamine/vitamin B1, writing,

it has also been documented that as a total oxygen-less state develops in tissues (ischemia/hypoxia), molecular transporters of thiamine are increased on hemoglobin, evidence the body is designed and relies upon thiamine naturally for dynamic defense against oxygen-deprivation.  Like I said, interesting.  When was the last time that your doctor pointed this out to you?

At the end of this video, he says that what you want is an unfortified nutritional yeast to correct a B1 deficiency.  See above.

1. Raynaud’s Syndrome

2. Morning Sickness & Hypersensitivity to Odors

3. Increased heart rate.  A lot of folks who got the vaccine have been experiencing this.  One woman on Twitter said that she woke up every morning with a racing heart, an experience that lasted for 3 months.  Benfotiamine would have helped with that.

4. Edema.  Most of us associate this with excessive sodium intake, but it could be a Benfotiamine deficiency.  Interesting distinction here: wet beriberi is a cardiovascular problem, while dry beriberi is a nervous system problem.

5. Psychosis.  Yep.  This could be brought on by sleep deprivation, excessive coffee consumption, or working in an environment where there is no one you can trust.  Peter Breggin made that latter point.

6. Shortness of breath.  Air hunger, especially at night, is a B1 deficiency.

7. Dizzy when going from a sitting to a standing position.  I endured this periodically over several years.  Even as a kid, if I were playing outside in the yard and twisted my body or jerked my head too fast, I’d see stars.  That sounds like a B1 deficiency.  B1 deficiency is failure to adapt to stress, gravity, you name it.

Be sure to take a look at another video by Dr. Berg, titled, "12 Ways You Can Get Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) Deficiency," Dr. Eric Berg, May 7, 2019.

What I find fascinating about B1 deficiency is that it manifests itself in a variety of ways.  I liked what he said about diuretics that will deplete vitamin B1 plus all of the water-soluble vitamins, like vitamin C and potassium.  Not good.  Coffee drinkers be forewarned.  One of the side effects of taking metformin is lactic acidosis., which also is a function of a B1 deficiency.  You can get rid of lactic acidosis in 24 hours just by taking Thiamine.  Hello.

There's a condition that involves a B1 deficiency that targets the mammillary bodies in the brain, where the mammillary bodies start shrinking and there's a connection between that brain structure and producing new memories.  Taking an unfortified nutritional yeast is a good source, and what you'll notice is that your stress goes down and your energy comes up.

"Subclinical Vitamin B1 Deficiency: Causes and Symptoms," Dr. Eric Berg, November 26, 2017.  In this video, he reminds us that too many refined carbohydrates, like pastas and refined flour, now get this, deplete B1.  This video has a good title, too, "Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) Deficiency: The Great Imitator of Other Illnesses," Dr. Eric Berg, October 14, 2018.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE: "chondroitin sulfate gives you the greatest power over cardiovascular disease"

CHONDROITIN SULFATE

The following is a sales letter for a product called NUTRI-SPEC, a Chondroitin Sulfate blend.  Despite it being a sales letter, it does provide some important information about Chondroiting Sulfate as a heart medicine and not just a compound for joints.  I love its description of CS right off the bat as "the patriarch of the family of compounds."

Chondroitin sulfate is the patriarch of the family of compounds that once were known as mucopolysaccharides, and which have more recently been re-named glycosaminoglycans, or GAGS. It is even more absurd with chondroitin sulfate than with glucosamine that the health food industry has pigeon-holed it as an arthritis remedy when that is only one of many (and not nearly the most important) beneficial effect it offers. Of all the amazing ingredients in Formula ES and Go Power/Diphasic A.M., chondroitin sulfate gives you the greatest power over cardiovascular disease. Before we describe the biological activity of this amazing substance let us make one thing perfectly clear with respect to your NUTRI-SPEC supplements – they do not contain some crude cartilage concentrate passed off as chondroitin sulfate. This is the real thing. This is chondroitin-4-sulfate, the biologically active compound (also known as chondroitin sulfate A). There are a lot of companies out there selling products they call chondroitin sulfate that is nothing more than powdered beef trachea. That crude substance has a tiny fraction of  the biological activity, and quite frankly, isn't worth a fraction of the cost.  Chondroitin sulfate (CS) has many important functions in human physiology. Many of those functions relate to the structure and function of joints and other connective tissues. The importance of CS to connective tissues will be discussed in future Letters. For now, let us concentrate on the most important function of CS – the protection of the cardiovascular system.

And by the way, when it says "cardiovascular system," it's also including your highly vascular brain.  Whereas Chondroitin Sulfate is recommended as a heart medicine, and it definitely repairs the heart, it also repairs all vascular injuries throughout your body. Here are the benefits:

CS helps maintain arterial elasticity. (Remember, arteries are largely connective tissue.)

CS retards the arteriosclerotic and aging processes within the arterial wall.

CS also possesses lipid clearing activity. It lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, and it normalizes the ratio between HDL, LDL, and VLDL.

Most importantly, CS clears lipids not just in the serum but from within the cells as well.

CS supplementation has also been shown to significantly reduce angina in patients with cardiovascular disease.

CS has been found to protect against thrombus formation.

The most striking statistic regarding CS supplementation shows that in cardiovascular disease patients treated with CS, the likelihood of having a myocardial infarct, suffering coronary insufficiency, or myocardial ischemia.

You may want more proof.  Then please check out Bill Sardi's page on Chondroitin Sulfate where he has persuasive photographs along with cases of individuals with cardiovascular injuries who've recovered from taking Chondroitin Sulfate.

Evidence for Biological Age Acceleration and Telomere Shortening in COVID-19 Survivors

Here is the article in full from The International Journal of Molecular Sciences, published June 7, 2021.  This was cause for concern, but too, I wondered how accurate this was, for I'd read last year that length of telomeres is not necessarily an important marker for aging.  Published on May 2, 2018, Bill Sardi, writing for Resveratrol News, points out that telomeres may not be so predictive of aging.

1,600 + Reports of Hair Loss Following COVID-19 Shots

The prescient Bill Sardi noted this hair loss last August 2020, from COVID alone, long before the vaccine rollout.  He writes,

Researchers theorize the same male hormones that provoke hair loss may be linked to the propensity of COVID-19 patients experiencing hair loss.  In fact, men with baldness may be more prone to COVID-19 infection itself.

So it looks like severely intense experiences, like a serious illness, can cause hair loss.  This then becomes quite a statement about the vaccines are: a toxin.

As many as 70% of the scalp hairs are then shed in large numbers about 2-3 months after a “shock“.  This sudden increase in hair loss (hair falling out in handfuls) is called acute telogen effluvium.  High fevers, childbirth, severe infections, severe psychological stress, major surgery or illnesses, over or under-active thyroid hormone, crash diets with inadequate protein, and a variety of medications– retinoids, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, antidepressants and anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) — are causal.

I'd read a few years back that pumpkin seed oil is important for hair health and hair restoration.  Looks like Sardi underscores this fact.  He writes that all you need is 400 mg of a daily dose.

Pumpkin seed oil is a natural 5-alpha reductase enzyme inhibitor.  A 400-milligram daily dose of pumpkin seed oil has been found to restore hair (40% increase in hair count, for men –and women in this author’s experience).  (Pumpkin seed oil completely eradicated this author’s bald spot and at age 75 I have a full head of hair!). This is photo-documentation of the positive effect of pumpkin seed oil on hair loss:

Cardiac arrest is an electrical problem; a heart attack is a plumbing problem

I liked the distinction between the different kinds of heart problems--cardiac arrest, which is an electrical problem with the heart, and heart attack, which is a plumbing issue.

Though her accent distracted me at first, she does a good job of the basics, for which I am very grateful.

To address the plumbing aspect of your heart, or circulation, use niacin, B3.

For electrical problems with your heart, take vitamin C.

For a little context, consider this from Bill Sardi

Every day in the U.S. over 1,000 people experience a sudden cardiac arrest.  And another 1,000 occur throughout Europe daily.  As researchers report from the Amsterdam in the Netherlands, only half of these patients arrive at the hospital alive.  And 50% of these survivors will still die or be severely disabled due to what is called posts-cardiac arrest syndrome.

There is no effective therapy to improve prognosis and death.

Post-cardiac arrest syndrome involves brain damage, heart failure and death, all induced by massive overwhelming oxygen free radicals generated from unpaired electrons.

Vitamin C is the great electron donor in the human body.  [Tom Levy, M.D., PeakEnergy.com, August 19, 2013].  Vitamin C counters oxygen-induced cell and tissue injury.  A video explanation of electron-donor/vitamin C therapy is available online.  [Riordan Clinic IVC and Cancer Symposium, March 4, 2011].

From his Peak Energy site, Dr. Levy notes that

magnesium is the natural antidote for the root cause of all pathological damage from every disease and poisoning known to man.

Vitamin C makes all normal cells stronger

Vitamin C kills cancer cells

Generally speaking, the more vitamin C, the better

With all else being equal, those are some stunning facts about two very powerful compounds, facts that should compel you to incorporate in your vitamin regimen these nutritional elements.

Lupus was parasites in the spleen.

Some Anti-parasitic don't cover every parasite. I.E- I believe IVM doesn't cover tapeworms. They just discovered malaria infection relapses are due to parasites in the spleen. A natural path Dr even said Lupus was parasites in the spleen.

Companies do exist where you can test for parasites remotely, followed up with prescriptions that use herbs.  I like it.

Also, baking soda in the morning on an empty stomach is excellent for the spleen.  Bill Sardi explains

An astonishingly simple way to quell autoimmune reactions throughout the body is to use BAKING SODA (sodium bicarbonate).  A half-teaspoon of baking soda (not baking powder) with a half-glass of water taken on an empty stomach immediately thrusts the digestive tract into an alkaline state.  Normally, the digestive tract is very acidic so we can digest foods and break down nutrients so they can be absorbed.

The alkaline baking soda forces the digestive tract to rebalance towards acidity.  In turn, this is a trigger for nerve cells in the spleen to send an anti-inflammatory signal throughout the body.  The spleen is a small organ that stores, recycles and removes old blood cells in the body.  When you exercise and get a stitch or cramp in your side that is your spleen squeezing down to supply more blood cells to your circulatory system.

CALIFORNIA PARENTS PROTEST: PULL THEIR KIDS OUT OF GULAG

The organization that called for the “Sit out” is Moms on the Ground.

Bill Sardi has some important details:

In California, Monday Oct. 18 is “California Sit Out.”  Parents will call their children’s schools to announced an unexcused absence.  An ad-hoc group called Moms On The Ground is leading the effort.

State funding per student is $13,9767 per student or $78 per day.

California State figures show that K-12 enrollment fell by 160,000 students, which is a 3-percent dip and the largest drop in enrollment in twenty years.

$13,976 per student per year X 160,000 students = more than $2.2 billion loss of local school revenues from the State.

I wonder how much this sit-out will cost California.  And what is typical of LAUSD, California, and government, in general, is that LAUSD, and probably the state, already coerced most of its teachers and administrators to get the vaccine.  The LA Times says that 97% of administrators and teachers have been vaccinated.  I can't imagine that that vaccine is making teachers or administrators healthier and certainly not more patient and understanding.

Zinc-deficiency leads to release of renin from the kidneys, a hormone that increases blood pressure.

From The Drudge Report

CANBERRA, Australia — There are plenty of reasons to prioritize healthy blood pressure levels, but we can now add robust brain health to the list. Researchers from the Australian National University report maintaining optimal blood pressure helps the brain stay at least six months younger than a person’s actual age. Meanwhile, people with high blood pressure, even if it still falls within the normal recommended range, are actually at a higher risk of their brains aging at a rapid rate.

Study authors say participants with high blood pressure had older, less healthy brains and a much higher risk of heart disease, stroke, and dementia. Even those with only slightly elevated blood pressure still showed signs of accelerated brain aging and increased disease risk.

“This thinking that one’s brain becomes unhealthy because of high blood pressure later in life is not completely true,” says Professor Nicolas Cherbuin, Head of the ANU Centre for Research on Ageing, Health, and Wellbeing, in a university release. “It starts earlier and it starts in people who have normal blood pressure.”

Usually, normal blood pressure is below 120/80, while optimal blood pressure is closer to 110/70.

These findings are especially concerning in light of another recent research project that concluded the number of people over the age of 30 with high blood pressure on a global scale has doubled.

“It’s important we introduce lifestyle and diet changes early on in life to prevent our blood pressure from rising too much, rather than waiting for it to become a problem,” explains cardiologist and study co-author Professor Walter Abhayaratna. “Compared to a person with a high blood pressure of 135/85, someone with an optimal reading of 110/70 was found to have a brain age that appears more than six months younger by the time they reach middle age.”

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE EFFECTS ON BRAIN MAY NOT START [UNTIL] MIDDLE AGE

Researchers examined over 2,000 brain scans conducted on 686 generally healthy patients between the ages of 44 and 76 during this project. Additionally, the team measured each person’s blood pressure on four occasions over the span of 12 years. All that data helped to calculate each person’s “brain age,” an indicator of overall brain health.

Prof. Cherbuin adds that these findings are particularly troubling for adults in their 20s and 30s because the impact of high blood pressure on brain health won’t typically appear until years later.

“By detecting the impact of increased blood pressure on the brain health of people in their 40s and older, we have to assume the effects of elevated blood pressure must build up over many years and could start in their 20s. This means that a young person’s brain is already vulnerable,” he explains.

Study authors conclude that all adults, even young adults, should regularly have their blood pressure checked.

“Australian adults should take the opportunity to check their blood pressure at least once a year when they see their GP, with an aim to ensure that their target blood pressure is closer to 110/70, particularly in younger and middle age groups,” Professor Abhayaratna concludes. “If your blood pressure levels are elevated, you should take the opportunity to speak with your GP about ways to reduce your blood pressure, including the modification of lifestyle factors such as diet and physical activity.”

The study appears in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.

DOES MELATONIN, ZINC, & ARGININE TREAT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?

Bill Sardi writes, "Melatonin is the only agent that Dr. Houston has found to work to normalize blood pressure among patients whose blood pressure does not dip at night."

Elsewhere, Sardi points to zinc as the secondary ingredient to bring hypertension under control, "Zinc is the unexpected mineral that controls blood pressure as described in the medical literature but not heeded by practicing physicians."  Further on in that article, Sardi makes another interesting point that "In a zinc-deficient population, excessive salt-induces fluid overload that leads to release of renin from the kidneys, a hormone that increases blood pressure."

If you're looking for markers, Bill Sardi has that too.  "Age-adjusted data, reported by researchers at UCLA a few years back show any risk for death from uncontrolled hypertension doesn’t start till blood pressure is 160/90 or more among adults 55 years of age or older."  Normal blood pressure levels are 136/88.  Hypertension is absolutely something that needs monitoring.  For one, it can lead to strokes.  Scary stuff indeed.  "The latest review of the medical evidence shows adults with 130-139 systolic pressure doubled their risk for a stroke, heart attack, kidney or heart failure compared to those with lower blood pressure."  Pick your poison, or pick optimal nutrients to stay productive, look after the things important to you as well as the people important to you.  Martie Wittekin is in alignment with Sardi on the value of adequate zinc to protect your heart.

Arginine, too, is another important remedy.

Arginine has been marching towards greater acceptance for treatment of a variety of cardiovascular disorders in recent published studies. The Journal of Nutrition suggests human studies begin using arginine among adults with high blood pressure, since arginine is required to produce nitric oxide, a transient gas that dilates (widens) blood vessels and helps to control blood pressure. [Journal Nutrition 134: 2807-11S, 2004

Zinc is better absorbed in the presence of selenium; selenium releases the zinc in to your blood.  And if you're looking for a thyroid supplement, getting zinc in combination with selenium and iodine may be the way to go for you.

And if you're looking for a thyroid supplement, getting zinc in combination with selenium and iodine may be the way to go for you.

Sacred Cow Documentary, 2020

Sacred Cow Trailer from Diana Rodgers on Vimeo.

A good documentary on how meat has been demonized in favor of high-caloric carbs, a trend that has effectively brought about metabolic disease, obesity, and diabetes on a grand scale.  You've heard this a thousand times, I am sure.  It's not like red meat is a panacea, and so though I am not sold on a keto exclusive diet, I do know that beef has its place in a healthy weekly diet.  Age concerns should be factored in, too, for the consumption of red meat increases iron overload in your body.  Nutrition journalist, Bill Sardi, explains that our bodies when young and growing in our teens require lots of red meat, iron, and calcium, and then at a certain age, like a kind of barrel, our bones are filled up with adequate amounts of these heavy minerals.  Our job after, say, age 40 for men is to maintain what we have but careful not to overload.  Iron overload is a concern because it is implicated in many age-related diseases, like cancer, type II diabetes, arthritis, gout, and others.  The key is to manage iron overload.  That can be achieved through diet by limiting, not eliminating, red meat.  If you like the taste of red meat and how it satisfies, then you can manage the iron overload by way of supplementing with IP6, a heavy mineral chelator.  Quercetin, vitamin C, and vitamin D are also iron chelators, but IP6  targets the condition pretty effectively.

Post-menopausal women and men in their 50s have shared with me how their cravings for meat diminishes with age.  This may be their bodies telling them to avoid iron-rich foods.

Of IP6/Inositol brands, I like Solaray's IP6/Inositol.

Quercetin is another mineral chelator.  So if you enjoy your meats and you are of a certain age, you should be managing iron overload with one of these two supplements.  Caffeinated coffee also chelates iron, but the problem with caffeine is that it blocks vital Thiamine or B1 vitamins from getting absorbed into your muscles and nerves.

If you're interested to learn more about managing iron overload so as to avoid age-related diseases, then check out these articles here.  A book list on the topic of IP6 appears at the bottom of this post.

When husks (bran) were separated from rice, the B vitamins were removed, which led to deficiency diseases of pellagra and beri beri. However, in addition to B vitamins, these rice polishings (bran) provided phytic acid (IP6), also called inositol hexaphosphate, an important mineral binder and antioxidant. [Free Radical Biology Medicine 8: 61-69, 1990; J Biological Chemistry 262: 11647-50, 1987] IP6 is found in every living cell in the body and is also an important second messenger for the nervous system. The low consumption of whole grains has led to reduced consumption of IP6 and the development of iron, copper and calcium overload diseases (hemochromatosis, Wilson's disease, kidney stones, mitral valve, calcium cataracts) and other iron-overload sequelae such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, brain disorders, liver disease, colon cancer and other maladies. IP6-phytic acid has been mistakenly branded as an anti-nutrient because it interferes with mineral absorption among growing children. Nutritionists fail to recognize that most of the anemia in developing countries is caused by intestinal parasites, not the lack of iron, and that nature favors iron anemia over iron overload, since iron is a major growth factor for bacteria, viruses, fungi and tumor cells. Bran has never been fully restored to the food supply, and the world is still suffering from deficiency diseases.

"ZINC LOZENGES ARE THE SILVER BULLET AGAINST CORONAVIRUSES"

We should all know the importance of zinc.  Combine it with vitamins D, A, and C, and you're putting your immune system in an excellent position.  Check out these highlights of zinc from Sardi's article:
Zinc is required to maintain thymus gland function to produce life-long antibodies from T-memory cells.
Dr. James Robb, a pathologist who performed early experiments with coronaviruses back in the 1970s, claims that zinc lozenges are the “silver bullet against coronavirus.”

You'll definitely want to get a brand of zinc lozenges that taste good since the lozenges, as such, have to sit in your mouth as they break down over several minutes.  The one brand whose taste I am not a fan of is Swanson's Zinc Lozenges.  Sorry.  If you need or want more convincing than the lone quotation above, then check out what Dr. Robb said
4) Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel ANY "cold-like" symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available.
More on zinc from Bill Sardi . . .
Zinc supplementation in the elderly, the high-risk group of coronavirus Infections, lowers illness markedly.  Modern medicine needs to emphasize zinc therapy, especially during epidemics.
Between 15-30 milligrams of zinc in dietary supplements can be safely consumed by adults.  Zinc oxide is poorly absorbed.  Other forms (acetate, gluconate, acetate, picolinate) are preferred.
Four years ago, I wrote a review of Sardi's valuable scrutiny of zinc, where he cited Canadian cancer researcher, Abraham Hoffer, MD, who concluded that
". . . zinc [in old mice] facilitated a complete recovery of thymus gland function and regrowth of the organ with greater immune efficiency."
I initially posted this video of Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, an Indian-American scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur.  The video came courtesy of Steve Bartin.  And though I liked much of what he said, I recalled an article by Bill Sardi published earlier this week at LewRockwell.com on March 30, 2020.  As I read it, thought about it, and reviewed the article, I realized that Dr. Shiva, though articulate and knowledgeable, is no match for the scientific scrutiny of Bill Sardi.  So what I prefer to do instead is to highlight some of the benefits zinc that Bill Sardi points out.  It's hard to find better, more actionable advice.
Thanks to Steve Bartin.  "The virus is not some big Godzilla" says Dr. Shiva.  It's B.S.  A virus is coming in, your immune system is compromised . . . ."  But all he is doing is riding on the coattails of Bill Sardi, who already cited why so many people are dying from the coronavirus--a damaged immune system.  And it makes sense.  Most people don't know how to take care of themselves.  They don't even know what an immune system is.
Dr. Shiva claims that the "Less adaptive immune function, [the] less T-cell activity."  Of course.  But that's a problem that is readily and easily repaired with zinc.  Zinc has the ability to regrow your thymus gland back to its original size.  Zinc doesn't make your thymus gland grow larger than original but back to its original size, and that is something given how it shrinks over our lifetime due to illness, stress, and nutritional deficiencies.  Bill Sardi recently pointed out that the Coronavirus mimics zinc deficiency.  He writes,
An emergency room physician in New Orleans shares an account of his experience with this dreaded pathogenic virus.   He writes: “You can literally watch it happen in a matter of hours.”  Some 70-90% of hospitalized patients who have to be placed on a ventilator die.
Talking about insufficient ventilators or how they are becoming cost-prohibitive is the wrong direction.  People will die on ventilators if . . . if they're not also provided with nutritional support to strengthen their innate and adaptive immunity.

I'd wish that people would stop picking on the elderly BEFORE they're even sick, or at all.  If someone is sick, stay away from them: problem solved.  But the damage has already been done.  The media has dog- whistled the entire population to despise, to be wary of, to thwart any threat by someone with gray hair, wrinkles, or a hunch in their shoulders.  What, as if everyone else who does not fit these descriptors is somehow healthy?  Please.  The narrative initiated in Seattle that elderly folks were dying almost en masse in a Seattle convalescent hospital.  I don't know the details surrounding that hospital or those deaths.  But the most likely scenario is that it wasn't just age plus the coronavirus that killed these people; instead, my guess is that those who passed had lived with chronic disease and malnourished lives that kept them functioning at a very low grade.  And then if they were tossed by family and friends and abandoned, that can't bode very well for their well-being.
