So this was a paper that started what is now the modern technique of isolation of a virus which has been done from 1954 right until today. It is still, in January 2026, the only way to prove that a virus exists. So what did he do? He took a patient who allegedly had the disease called measles. He took some mucus from the patient, mixes it with milk and three other serums: calcium horse serum and Bovine fetal serum then he inoculated that on a culture of monkey kidney cells he put some other chemicals in the culture he took away the nutrients of it he added antibiotics which are specifically poisonous to kidneys like streptomycin and penicillin. And then they waited and three or so days later, the kidney culture cells died, a so-called cytopathic effect, otherwise known as CPE
