Using 13 million hours of personal light exposure data in >88,000 people, they found that those with the brightest nights had significantly higher risks of developing coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and stroke. These associations were robust after adjusting for established cardiovascular risk factors, including physical activity, smoking, alcohol, diet, sleep duration, socioeconomic status, and polygenic risk.
