Well, I don't live in Ireland, but I do live in the U.S. where I've seen schoolyards of children wearing masks, not because of any condition they have or any condition they might threaten their classmates with, but because of remote, unaccountable, invisible authority: the county health officer.  

But I do love the language that these official tools give to reporters.  

You may mandate COVID masks this winter, but according to a major report by Ofsted in the UK earlier this year.  There's evidence that face masks could have stunted many children in social and language development.  So I'd like to ask with these known risks, what real-world evidence do you have that masks significantly reduce COVID-19 not based on models but actual real-world examples.   

00:25  So first of all, there is no expectation we will be moving to mask mandates.  Obviously, Ireland does what every other country will have contingency plans in place should there be a variants of concern that out competes Omicron that is a high ratio in terms of severe illness and that escapes the vaccines.  

My comments:  So this was something.  He's admitting that Ireland's response will be just like every other country's response.  Like China's?  Like Austria?  How about Australia?  There's no greater admission or concession that says we defer to a higher central authority than our own nation.  We defer to the International Communist WEF, Davos, and the EU.  These are our gods.  

00:45  The public health advice I have is unambiguous [meaning he'll change his advice next week] on the use of masks.  Masks are important.  We have public health advice in place right now.  They do work.  They do save lives.  And they have been an incredibly important part of our response to the . . . to the pandemic.

01:07  I mean there's oodles of data.  There's data all over the world.  There's no serious argument being had in terms of whether face masks . . . there's no serious argument being had in the medical community as to whether face masks are an important public health measure.  Are there trade-offs, are there trade-offs in children wearing masks?  Yes, there are, and those things are taken very seriously, and they are counted for in terms of public health advice.  But in terms of living through a pandemic, there is no serious debate as to whether face masks are an important public health measure . . . .

$6 billion dollars in mask purchases?  I wished I could have gotten in on that action.  

Germany spent €6 billion ($5.9 billion) on face covers at the start of the pandemic, according to Spiegel. Former Health Minister Jens Spahn was criticized at the time for excessive procurement and for using personal connections to buy masks, steps he defended by citing major supply shortages and a desperation to obtain protective coverings swiftly.

The "protective" masks that everybody is wearing have been an unmitigated disaster from the outset.  First, they are menacing which only helped to emphasize a threat.  But in this case, the treats were now multiplied by the thousands of mask wearers.  When I first spotted more than a few people wearing masks, it alarmed me because it's like they got orders from some cult or underground army.  Truly.  Not only do we know that masks don't prevent transmission or protect from infection.  We know they're unhealthy.  Worse yet, they ruin a young child's sense of communication and their ability to read cues from adults.  It's hard not to continually condemn these because no one has been brought to account regarding the masks.  You still see people wearing them, and I am sure that as the late fall and winter months approach, more people will be wearing them.  But I said early on that the masks are also illegal in some communities precisely because they present the citizens in a town with a threat of robbery.  Bandits love masks.

This time it's an editorial writer for USA Today.

Headline: "I am done with masks. We've been idiotic about them since the beginning."

He begins with this: "Who knew that little pieces of plastic or cloth worn over the nose and mouth could turn people into complete idiots?"

In response to Dr. Leana Wen's [the Chinese-American, flip-flopping, goalpost-shifting version of Anthony Fauci] recent observation that cloth masks are nothing more than "facial decoration," he responds, "Well, I feel like an idiot for all the times I donned a facial decoration and forced my kids to do the same."

He dismisses the drive for N95 masks as unreasonable and concludes: "As for me, I've had it with masks. I feel like a fool, and I am not going to play anymore."

Then, too, Bari Weiss, formerly of the New York Times opinion section, made waves on Bill Maher's program recently when she declared herself "done with COVID," and swatted down the standard arguments with data.

The only thing missing was: I'm sorry for going along with it all this time and demonizing people who said then what I'm saying now.

The whole "we now have new information" thing from Weiss and others is disingenuous. We knew very early on that the crazies were wrong and that nothing they recommended did any good. A simple "stay home when you're sick" would have been better than their entire mitigation program.

Having said that, I by no means decline Bari Weiss's membership in Team Reality, and I'm happy to see our ranks continue to grow.

Before I reveal the happiest of the three items I have to report to you today, in terms of the evolution of opinion, I want to make sure you know a term.

Surely you know "red pill" and "blue pill," from The Matrix. You and I are red-pilled. We understand the nature of the regime that rules over us. We don't accept the establishment version of events.

The blue-pilled are those who even now still think the public health establishment just has the best interests of Americans at heart and should be trusted to do sensible things.

A white pill, meanwhile, is a source of optimism for us.

And now for a white pill:

Meanwhile, Ireland just announced it's dropping most COVID restrictions, and England (not the UK as I mistakenly said the other day) is dropping its mask mandate and vaccine passport system.

Austria keeps putting off its mandatory vaccination program, and there are murmurs in England about pushing the vaccine mandates for NHS workers back six months.

We're almost there.

DR. ERIC NEPUTE SAYS, MASKS ARE KILLING YOU - TAKE THEM OFF NOW!!

In the above video, he recommends, like so many other doctors and nutritional journalists, taking vitamin D and zinc for the Coronavirus or any other cold.  

The following video was produced back in May 2020.  Here he concedes that if you want to wear a mask, then wear a mask, a far cry from his above exhortation that masks are killing you.  This tells me that he's been seeing the numbers on what is exactly killing people.  It's not COVID; it's lockdowns and masks.

8:30.  When somebody breaks a contract, you don’t want to walk away.  You have a cause of action.  So use it.  Make them perform under the contract.  I’ll show you how to do that.  There’s a couple of things you do.  Yeah, you can sue them and obtain an injunction; that’s entirely likely.  An injunction is an order from a court to do or to stop doing something.  so what happens then is the store has a policy, for whatever reason, is violating the law, and then you go to the court and say, “Judge, they’re violating the law and it's affecting me in this way, and it may affect the public, therefore, I want an injunction restraining this organization from engaging in this conduct.” 

Now if they continue doing it, now they’re under a court order, and they could be in violation, in contempt, whereas if you don’t do that, you could be charged with trespass.  We all know that’s bogus.  But if you do this first, now you have the power because now you have a court order.  They don’t.  That’s the civil aspect of it. 

There’s the criminal aspect of it, and if you guys like this idea—what we’re talking about before about, you know, make him sign something, you know, or hand him a notice, right?  Imagine writing a citation.  Imagine writing a traffic ticket: A Notice to Appear.  So the way you do it is—this is what I recommend.  You’ve got the civil aspect, we’ll get into that, but on the criminal side when you have someone wearing a mask—and I believe you can see this in every state—when someone’s wearing a mask, and harassing you when he’s concealing his identity and threatening you or harassing or intimidating you, or even assaulting you [where the threat of harm is iminent], whatever you know in something that creates a cause of action that you can make against that individual or his employer, like a civil cause of action.  If you have a civil cause of action, because of his conduct, that’s also a crime by the fact that you can sue for a civil violation.  It also is a crime in that individual was a suspect in the crime.  Normally wearing a mask and intimidating people or harassing them is a second-degree misdemeanor.  It’s going to vary like that by state.  Some states are really specific.  I mean California I did these for California and Florida, so you guys can start there.

Peggy interrupts.  12:25.  A civil violation is someone stepping over your civil rights.  They didn't let you in the store

13:27.  John Jay Singleton.  This morning I went to Costco, doing the things I like, shopping for my friend, and I was assaulted.  I walked in there and the guy at the door had a box of masks, my wife and I went in there together, and he walked over to me and touched my shoulder, and I said "Don't touch me!"  That's assault right there, but I didn't want to do anything because there are other issues there, and if I'm going to say that this guy assaulted me, you know, what am I?  It's not worth it, but that technically was assault.  He touched me.  You've got to use some judgment there.  I'm not trying to wreck everybody's day.  And we have a good time over there, so we like that place.  You have to have a cause of action—you have to have a right [or justification] to sue somebody.  So we have the civil aspect, but here’s the criminal aspect.  The criminal law, with few exceptions, okay, there are criminal statutes, like RICO.  RICO was used against the mafia or organized crime.  There is a private right of action in a RICO claim.  

I’m not talking about that we should do this.  The other private right of action, something you identified earlier, a couple of months ago, Peggy, was Title XVIII of the Criminal Code.  Title XVIII to the United States Code, there’s a section, Number 1038, and in that there’s a private right of action dealing with public funds.  You actually can sue where normally the police or the Dept. of Justice or the U.S. Attorney’s Office or the Attorney General ONLY have the right to prosecute somebody.  In that particular statute, you’re allowed to some somebody for a crime.  When it comes to things like with the mask-wearing, you don’t have a private right of action.  It’s only public, so good luck getting the AG’s Office to prosecute against a guard or security officer, a store employee, they’re not going to do it.  You have to do it.  YOU HAVE A CLAIM TO MAKE—you would seek an injunction.  The injunction is because someone committed a crime, you don’t have the private right of action to prosecute the crime, but you do have a personal interest in the violation because it affected you.  And you can’t state a cause of action.  You have the right to sue, but you also have to allege certain facts.  I’m not going to get into all of those details; it’s in my document.  You have to say certain things in the complaint.  If you don’t, the judge will throw it out. 

They had a police officer there, and he was unarmed, he was a sheriff’s deputy at the door.  And he literally stood in front of my wife to block her with his body.  Now that’s a crime, and he was wearing a mask, you know, covering his whole face, and went off to give her whatever . . . . she doesn’t stop.  She’s only 5’1” and she just said, “You know, I’m gonna go shopping.  You do your thing,” and she walked around him, so, but in that case what you can do is file a lawsuit against the sheriff’s office.  So now there’s a lawsuit, and the court issues a case number.  This is civil case

And yet Trump's fearless NIH leader, Dr. A. Fauci, argues that we all should be wearing masks even though their efficacy has not been demonstrated in a controlled study.  Check out Fauci's answer to a college student's question

But Fauci balked at the idea.

I would not want to do a randomized controlled study because that would mean having people not wear masks and see if they do better, he said.

Fauci suggested he would never ask an individual to participate in a study that would involve not wearing a mask.

I think that to do the study would be kind of difficult to do because then you’d have to tell people not to wear masks, and I’m not about to tell them that, he said. 

Tom DiLorenzo points out that 

So announced Fuhrer Fauci a few days ago.  After all, the study would inevitably find that the whole mask business is one big stinking pile of horse manure (to use “scientific” language).

UPDATE:  Paddy H. writes to inform me that Fauci’s CDC has already done controlled studies of the effectiveness of masks and concluded that they are ineffective.  Fauci most certainly knows this, and so is once again lying through his teeth and deceiving the public on international television. 

Check out this CDC report on the efficacy of face masks in reducing the spread of influenza.  Go to the section on face masks, and you'll see their findings in the first couple of sentences.  Here is how the CDC report puts it

In a pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.51–1.20; I2 = 30%, p = 0.25).

Disposable medical masks (also known as surgical masks) are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids (36). There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on the transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.  

And yet Fauci says that he doesn't want to conduct a controlled study despite the fact that a controlled study HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE AND REPORTED ON BY THE CDC and found masks to be ineffective.
