CLOUD SEEDING in one area can potentially increase rainfall up to 100 miles or more downwind. Cloud Seeding weather modification in Texas:
Panhandle Groundwater Conservation District (PGCD):
Operates in the eastern Texas Panhandle, covering approximately 4.1 million acres to enhance groundwater recharge over the Ogallala Aquifer.
Trans Pecos Weather Modification Association (TPWMA):
Operates along and west of the Pecos River, with a target area of 5.1 million acres. This association includes various entities within Culberson, Loving, Pecos, Reeves, and Ward counties.
Rolling Plains Water Enhancement Project:
Covers a large area east of Abilene towards the Red River Valley, originally 3.5 million acres but expanded to include buffer areas. Haskell County is one of the participants in this program, focusing on augmenting water levels during summer months to support agriculture.
South Texas Weather Modification Association (STWMA):
Operates between the Edwards Plateau and the Coastal Bend, with an estimated target area of 6.0 million acres.
